Azerbaijan Is a Reliable Partner for Bulgaria and the EU Countries

Jun 02, 2026

Kiril Temelkov,  Deputy Minister of Energy of the Republic of Bulgaria

Baku Energy Week has brought together experts from Europe, Asia, and Africa in the capital of Azerbaijan. We have all gathered around the same table in Baku to discuss how we can support one another during these challenging times. I believe that the Baku Energy Forum has been organized at the right time and offers tremendous potential. Very interesting discussions and open dialogues with experts are taking place here.

This forum is fundamentally important for all its participants. It is significant that the discussions focus not only on gas supplies but also on the prospects for green energy supplies. Bulgaria is involved in two of the four promising routes for delivering green energy from the Caspian region to Europe.

Bulgaria has a long-term contract for the purchase of Azerbaijani gas, which covers 50 percent of our country's needs. Azerbaijan is a stable and reliable partner for Bulgaria and the European Union member states. We are pleased to be in Baku and to engage in meaningful discussions on issues of mutual cooperation.
